Instructions

Download the file for the language of your choice. To flash the new ROM image, you must load it onto the Spectrum. This can be done from a PC using the ethup tool, or via the EAR socket as a TZX file.

How to flash the new ROM using ethup:

  1. Download the ROM image for your language (English and Spanish ROMs are available).
  2. CLEAR 32767 on the Spectrum.
  3. Close the NMI switch to bring up the NMI menu.
  4. Choose option C - load arbitrary data.
  5. Use ethup to send the file from the PC, for example "ethup 172.16.0.4 romprog.out" to send the English ROM to a Spectrum on IP 172.16.0.4.
  6. Exit back to BASIC.
  7. RANDOMIZE USR 32768

How to flash the new ROM using the TZX file:

  1. Download the TZX file for your language.
  2. CLEAR 32767 on the Spectrum.
  3. Use an appropriate TZX player on the PC, and LOAD "" CODE on the Spectrum.
  4. When loaded, RANDOMIZE USR 32768
